Technical Preservation Services Manager at the State Historic Preservation Office
Vanessa Gabriele is a preservationist who is passionate about preserving historic buildings while also making them functional for the modern era. She holds a master’s degree in Historic Preservation from the Boston Architectural College along with an MFA from Rutgers University and a BA from Kent State University in alternate fields. In her current role as a Technical Preservation Services Manager at the Ohio SHPO, Vanessa reviews historic tax credit projects, ensuring that applicants are following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
This panel session will be led by Abby Marshall who sits on the Heritage Ohio Board as the representative for Young Ohio Preservationists. Joined by a group of young professionals in the Historic Preservation field, Abby will lead a panel discussion with the session speakers about why they chose a career in the historic preservation field, impactful projects they have worked on, challenges they face in the field, and more.
