Todd Herberghs

Exective Director at Downtown Canton Partnership

Todd Herberghs founded the Downtown Canton Partnership (DCP) three years ago and has served as its Executive Director ever since. A passionate advocate for the city, Todd lives, works, and plays in Downtown Canton, and is deeply committed to its growth and vibrancy. Under Todd’s leadership, the DCP has evolved significantly. While its most visible programming includes the popular First Friday events, the organization is also engaged in extensive behind-the-scenes work to support and strengthen the downtown community. This includes planning and executing events, supporting existing businesses, and attracting new ones to the area. The DCP actively manages contracts with local businesses and municipal partners to ensure that downtown remains clean, safe, and vibrant. It also offers event grants to help bring more visitors into the district and stimulate economic activity.

Beyond day-to-day operations, Todd is helping to facilitate large-scale redevelopment projects aimed at creating long-term positive impact. These efforts include increasing the downtown residential population and exploring solutions to expand housing options. All with the ultimate goal of restoring Canton to its former vitality and positioning it for a thriving future.

Exploring Special Improvement Districts (SIDs): A Model for Revitalizing Downtowns and Enhancing Community Development

In this session, we will explore the concept of Special Improvement Districts (SIDs) and how they can be a powerful tool for communities looking to revitalize their downtown areas, improve infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth. Drawing from the experience of our own SID, we will discuss the benefits, and challenges involved in establishing and managing a SID. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how SIDs function, how they can be tailored to fit the unique needs of their communities, and how they can be a larger part of a downtown redevelopment plan. Approved for 1.00 AIA LU credit, sponsored by Schooley Caldwell.
