Gene Krebs has been active in bringing election reform to Ohio over the past five years. Before that, he spent eight years in the Ohio House of Representatives as a Republican and member of the Caveman Caucus, the most conservative wing of the Republican Party. He coauthored Bridges Across Every Divide: Policies and Practices to Reduce Poverty and Build Communities (aha! Process, 2018) and the fifth edition of Bridges out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities (aha! Process, 2021). He has been an executive in various Ohio-based think tanks focused on economic development, urban revitalization, farmland preservation, health care, and human service issues. He served as chair of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel Governing Board, which acts as a watchdog for utility overreach. Mr. Krebs is a former intercollegiate fencing coach and seventh generation farmer; he was a pioneer in no-till methodology, and he still lives on the family farm.
Republican Gene Krebs and Democrat Sean Logan, both former Ohio House members, discuss the shifting landscape of policy advocacy in Ohio, the forces involved and how to best approach your local elected officials, using the time-tested techniques plus new approaches. With decades of experience and hard knocks, these two friends discuss how to advocate, and then open up the floor to listen to the problems advocates are encountering in their communities, and offer expert opinions.
